Meet Doug
Doug Tansy is a lifelong Alaskan and proud 25-year member of Local 1547 whose career reflects a deep commitment to the trade and the membership. He joined the union in 2001 as an Apprentice Wireman, turned out as a Journeyman in 2006, and quickly advanced through the ranks as a Foreman and General Foreman. Having worked at every level on the jobsite, Doug understands firsthand the challenges our members face and the importance of strong representation, safe working conditions, and fair compensation.

In this role, he has focused on protecting wages and benefits, expanding work opportunities across Alaska, ensuring responsible financial stewardship, and strengthening apprenticeship and training programs to prepare the next generation of skilled electrical workers.
Grounded in experience, integrity, and a steadfast belief in working families, Doug has worked to strengthen relationships with contractors, grow market share, and position Local 1547 members at the forefront of Alaska’s energy and infrastructure projects. As he seeks reelection, Doug remains committed to transparency, accountability, and ensuring every member of 1547 has the opportunity to earn a strong living, build a secure retirement, and take pride in the work we do across our state.
